Thuy's begins in Vietnam, in a kitchen where food was never written down, only felt.
Thuy carried those flavours to Australia with little else. In Melbourne she opened a Vietnamese bakery: early mornings, warm ovens, food made the way it always had been. Honest, generous, from the heart. It grew into a local institution, feeding a community across generations.
In 2024 she sold it. Not an ending. A beginning.
She'd always dreamt of one day writing the recipes down. A cookbook, so the knowledge living in her hands could outlast her. Thuy's, in Uluwatu, is the first page.
Today she cooks alongside her daughter. Together they make food the way their family always has. No rigid recipes, just touch, taste, instinct. Knowledge passed down through bloodlines, not notebooks.
Organic and local where we can. Coconut oil, tallow, natural fats. Time taken, not shortcuts. Food meant to nourish, to comfort, to bring people together. Familiar, even the first time you taste it.
Welcome to Thuy's.

Thuy's is a Vietnamese restaurant and cafe in Uluwatu, on Bali's Bukit Peninsula. We serve slow-simmered phở, hot bánh mì, bún vermicelli noodle bowls, broken rice and proper Vietnamese coffee — family recipes carried from a kitchen in Vietnam, to a Melbourne bakery, and now to Uluwatu. By night the bar pours Vietnamese-inspired cocktails and Bia Saigon. Find us on Jl. Labuan Sait in Pecatu, open daily from morning to night — some of the best Vietnamese food and coffee in Bali.
